Dr Owen Fraser is the CEO of Gobiosis International (Pty) Ltd, a Director on the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Board of Directors, and Past-President of the AOAC Africa Section. He is a thought leader in the field of laboratory standards and performance, laboratory design, smart lab ecosystems and laboratory building management systems. Holding a PhD in Biological Sciences, and other professional qualifications in Lean Six-Sigma and Project Management, Dr. Fraser specialises in integrating cutting-edge technologies

to enhance laboratory efficiency, safety, and adaptability.

During his career, Dr. Fraser has been a strong advocate of improving the quality and reliability of test results, and overall performance of analytical laboratories by reducing sources of measurement errors caused by poor laboratory infrastructure and their design and management. The application of modular designs and smart laboratory management systems not only reduce or eliminate some measurement errors and improve operational workflows, but also contribute to increased energy efficiency and sustainability. Dr Fraser has spoken extensively on topics related to adaptable laboratory environments, advanced safety protocols, and the role of technology in future-proofing laboratories.
